Women’s March Flooded The National Mall with Pussy Hats

A sea of pink flooded the National Mall on January 21st. This pink flood was formed by the marchers wearing Pussyhats; handmade, cat-eared knit hats, as a show of solidarity and support for women’s rights.

The inauguration of Donald Trump as the president of United States of America was followed by Women’s March held in Washington on 21st of January. The tycoon turned politician is notorious for discriminatory remarks during his campaign. The marchers travelled from all over the country to join this peaceful protest, officials stated that an estimated half a million people gathered in front of the White House. Many opposed his presidency, concerned that he would threaten the rights of women, LGBTQIA, minorities, immigrants, and other groups in the U.S.

Although Women’s March attracted more participants than Trump’s own inauguration, the atmosphere was orderly and genial. The largest march was held in Washington, but cities around the world, from New York, London, Dublin, and Kolkata amongst many others also held their own. Supports from celebrities poured in social media. Pictures of Yoko Onno and Whoopi Goldberg wearing the Pussyhat at the march went viral.

There is no saying of what will take place during his presidency. As a business mogul, he might bring improvement to the American economy. However, he affirmed that he will build the wall on the Mexican border on his recent tweet. By staying true to his campaign promises, the severance between USA’s and other nations may be unavoidable.
