A Peek of The Most Anticipated Films and TV Shows in 2017

It’s raining fantastic films and tv shows this year. It’s going to be a great year for both small screen and big screen, particularly the sci-fi genre. From superheroes to cult space operas, we’re in for a treat. Check out our favorites below.

T2 Trainspotting
After gaining a cult following for the original release in 1996, Danny Boyle is back with the sequel which takes place 20 years after the events in the first film. T2 features the original ensemble cast and heavy reference to the first film. The film was released in the United Kingdom in January 27th and will be released worldwide throughout February and March 2017.

Kong: Skull Island
This trailer of King Kong franchise reboot promises an action-packed adventure more enticing than its 2005 predecessor. It features an ensemble cast, including Tom Hiddleston and Samuel L. Jackson. Kong: Skull Island will be released on March 10th.

Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2
Star-Lord and his gang are back to save the galaxy, including the beloved Baby Groot. In theaters May 5th 2017.

Twin Peaks
This legendary TV show with a cult following got a strange trailer with a lot of coffee. Watch the strangeness for yourself.

Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
Johnny Depp reprised his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in this action-packed Disney franchise. Based on this trailer, it seems like Dead Men Tell No Tales promises more spectacular scenes than usual.

Game of Thrones Season 7
Following the previous season, this season is also ahead of the book. Only seven episodes will be screened instead of the usual ten. Known for gritting season finales, Game of Thrones never failed to be one of the most anticipated tv show every year. This show will be premiered on mid 2017.

Star Trek: Discovery
Perhaps the most anticipated from the list, Brian Fuller brings back Star Trek to the small screen. The timeline takes place a decade before the original Star Trek series and will follow USS Discovery’s journey in the final frontier. Unfortunately, the premiere has been delayed indefinitely.

Stranger Things Season 2
This Netflix original TV show that gained its popularity overnight premiered a mysterious trailer at Super Bowl. The second season of Stranger Things is set to release on Halloween.

Justice League
This film is set a few months after the events of Batman vs Superman. Bruce Wayne and Wonder Woman assembled a team of superhuman to protect the world from the catastrophic threats of supervillains Steppenwolf and Parademon. Justice League will be released on November 17th.

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi
Other than confirming the title last January, the production team has been rather secretive. In the meantime, fans are going wild with their speculations. Daisy Ridley’s haircut caused a ruckus last July when she posted a video on instagram covering her hair. The Last Jedi is scheduled to be released on December 15th.

Wonder Woman
Another release from DC this year but taking place in the 20th century, Amazon princess and immortal warrior Diana is set to bring an early end to World War I. Wonder Woman is scheduled for release on June 2nd.

Logan
In the near future, Logan and Professor X attempted to conceal themselves from the world in a hideout on the Mexican border. However, a young mutant arrives being pursued by dark forces.

Baywatch
We can’t help but to mention this one. This revival of 90’s beloved (and tacky) TV show features Zac Efron & The Rock as the lead characters, uncovering criminal plot that threatens the future of the bay.
