Interview With The Man Behind Yellow Claw's Merch

Posted on 18 April 2017

Yellow Claw’s huge amount of following swarmed Pacific Place last Thursday for Los Amsterdam Pop-Up Store. We had the pleasure to hang out with Chris, the man behind Yellow Claw’s merch. Check out the interview below.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Chris and I’m in charge of Yellow Claw’s merchandise. I studied at the Fashion Business School because since I was young, I’ve always known that I wanted to do fashion.

2. How did you start working with Yellow Claw?

We were already friends, before i started working with Yellow Claw. I think it’s one of the coolest things, that you can work and share these experiences with your friends.

3. How long have you been doing the merch for Yellow Claw?

I’ve been doing this since October 2015 so I guess it’s been more than a year now.

4. What do you like the most about what you do?

That I get to travel to Jakarta (laughs). Also my job gives me so much good energy and positive vibes.

5. Why do you like Jakarta?

The friendly people and the nice food. I have an Indonesian ancestry, so whenever I land here, it feels like coming back home. That’s how I came up with the idea of the pop-up store in Jakarta. We wanted to make Yellow Claw’s merch more accessible, that’s why we partnered up with The GOODS Dept.

6. What is it that keeps you going?

We only sell the merchandise online, so during this event I think it’s a great thing that I can actually meet the people that are into the merch. I try to do a small talk with everyone. I think this is something that keeps me going.

7. Have you got any future plans for Yellow Claw’s merch?

We want to expand worldwide. We want to do something big here in Indonesia. So perhaps a partnership with The GOODS Dept. The next thing is to open a warehouse in Jakarta so we can ship all of the orders from Jakarta. Bye bye high shipping fees and custom tax.
